When It All Feels Like Too Much

I woke up with a headache today, my to-do list seems like it’s a mile long and my son has early release from school, which means I have to pick him up an hour earlier than usual. I just want to crawl under the covers and hide.

Sound familiar?

Since our thoughts cause our feelings, it makes sense that when we think thoughts like I’ll never get this done, I can’t handle this, and this is all too much we feel overwhelmed, burned out and stuck.

Whether it’s a mountain of tasks, big emotions, or something else you are navigating right now, you can do this.

Here are some tools you can use when it all feels like too much:

  • Choose one thing you can let go of today - a chore, an errand, a limiting belief, negative self-talk, perfectionism - let go of something that isn’t necessary and make room for more peace.

  • Schedule a 10-minute break - meditate, take a walk, scroll social media, breathe, pray, journal, watch the birds - take a few minutes between tasks to reset, get grounded and allow your logical brain to come back online.

  • Name one thing that is going well right now - you weren’t late to the meeting, you ate a healthy lunch, your kids didn’t fight in the car - show your brain more than just the negative and allow it to see more of the positive.
