First Steps to Recovery

Recovering from people-pleasing doesn’t happen overnight, but small steps can create big shifts. You don’t have to overhaul your whole life - you just have to start practicing new patterns, one choice at a time.

Here are some gentle first steps:

  • Before you change anything, pay attention to the times you agree to something, then immediately feel tense, drained, or resentful. That’s valuable data.

Try this - Keep a small journal or notes app where you jot down these moments. Awareness is the foundation of change.

  • Slowing down gives your nervous system time to catch up with your values.

Try this - Use phrases like:

“Let me get back to you.”

“I need to check my schedule.”

“Can I think about that and let you know?”

  • You don’t have to do it all - or do it perfectly - to be worthy, lovable, or enough.

Try this - Aim for B+ work in areas where you tend to overdo. Notice how that opens up space and energy for the things that really matter to you.

You don’t have to take these steps alone. I’m here to support you every step of the way.

If this resonates with you, I invite you to schedule a free consultation with me. We will meet, discuss what you are navigating and see if I’m the right coach for you. I can’t wait to work with you.
