I Just Need to Power Through
Have you ever found yourself stressed, overwhelmed, burnt out, or exhausted? This might show up as knots in your stomach, racing thoughts, fatigue or total shut down.
This is your body’s way of sounding an alarm that signals:
It’s time for a break
Slow down
Let’s take a walk
Take a deep breath
But instead of listening to your body, you say to yourself - I just need to power through.
Powering through something is the equivalent of ignoring your body’s alarms, dishonoring your needs and treating the task/the other person/the situation as more important than yourself.
If your best friend told you they were struggling to get through something, would you tell them to stop complaining and get back to it? So why are you treating yourself this way?
Here’s a challenge: Start paying attention to your body and its alarms or sensory cues. Notice when you feel your heartbeat quicken, your mind start to wander, your stomach tighten, your jaw clench, your brain shut down. What is your body trying to tell you and how can you address it with love?
